Crowd of devotees gathered at Baba Godi Shankar Dham on the third Monday in Bihra

The wonderful place Godi Shankar Dham has Jyotirlinga in the form of Godi and Shankar Shivling

Koshi Zone, Saharsa. On the third Monday of Sawan, a huge number of devotees performed Jalabhishek on Baba and Maiya at Baba Godi Shankar Dham located in Bhandar Kon, just 09 km away from the district headquarters. Baba Godi Shankar Sthan, included in the tourist places of Koshi, is a place where the form of Lord Shiva and his Shakti Maiya are both in the form of Shivling and it is just a coincidence that there is no Shivling with such a form anywhere. According to experts, one such form is in Rameswaram but that too is at some distance. Mahakant Rai, Bachcha Lal Das, Arvind Lal Das, Mathura Prasad Singh, Chandra Kumar Rai, Umesh Rai, Jagdish Singh, Shibo Jha etc. are engaged day and night in developing Baba Godi Shankar Sthan and being dedicated to the said Dham.  While a group of youths Sanjay Jha, Alok Kumar Rai, Jyotish Rai, Vikas Kumar Singh, Gaurav Kumar, Chiku Rai, Tripurari Singh, Mangal Singh, Roshan Singh, Neeraj Singh are present day and night to ensure that the devotees do not face any problem during the important month of Saavan. Villagers told that a song of Baba Laxminath Gosain "Uma Raman Pad Japo Nara, Godi Shankar Vipatti Hara" also shows that they used to come here to worship.

Way to reach Baba Godi Shankar Sthan bihra

To reach Godi Shankar Sthan situated at Bhandar Kon at a distance of 09 km from the district headquarters, go by car on Saharsa Bihara via Agwanpur road and after reaching near Dharhara Deeh through Bihara West Tola, you can reach the said temple site.

Saharsa DM had recommended the name of Godi Shankar place as a tourist destination

The then DM of Saharsa Binod Singh Gunjiyal had recommended the name of Baba Godi Shankar place to be developed as a tourist destination about a decade ago. But after his departure, no leader, minister or officer took the trouble to do this. Local MP Dinesh Chandra Yadav has recently installed a high mask lamp there, due to which proper lighting is available there. Villagers Mahakant Rai, Bachcha Lal Das, Umesh Rai etc. told that the devotees of Baba Godi Shankar never go empty handed from the court. He told that every year on Dussehra festival, Ramayan recitation and storytelling is organized by the storyteller, while hundreds of devotees worship during the entire month of Sawan.
